Human first: SEYFR’s Nairobi outreach starts with listening
As I write this, our team is in Nairobi, Kenya, meeting students through our SEYFR Drop Campaign following the launch of SEYFR 2.0. We started at the University of Nairobi, and the outreach is continuing.
We want to understand the real problems people face when transferring files from one device to another. We’re there to listen, learn what matters to them, and introduce SEYFR, which we believe is the right way to send files. That’s where the name comes from: Send Your Files Right — SEYFR.

We’re determined to take this outreach to more university communities across Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda, meeting people and learning from them for as long as we can.
It’s easy to make assumptions from behind a screen. We want these visits to give us time to ask questions, listen, and learn where our understanding falls short. That’s what human first means to us.
Students have notes to share, group projects to finish, and videos to move between phones and laptops. One person has an Android phone, another has a Mac, and someone else uses Windows. Getting a file from one to the other can take more effort than it should, especially when data costs money and the connection is slow.
That’s the everyday problem we’re working on with SEYFR.
With 2.0, we’ve made a few things easier:
Send several files or a whole folder together.
Scan a transfer QR code with your Mac or Windows camera, or read it from a saved image.
See the transfer progress and know when the files have arrived.
Find received files more easily, with browsing and filters on mobile and shortcuts to Finder or File Explorer on computers.
Send files into SEYFR from other apps on your phone, and share transfer codes through the system share menu on Mac and Windows.
The recent updates also include clearer alerts when a transfer stops on mobile and Mac, simpler file selection on iPhone and Mac, and improvements to offline transfers over Wi-Fi and hotspots on Android.
We’re glad to have these improvements out. Now we want to understand how they fit into people’s lives, and what still needs work.
Being there gives the team a chance to introduce SEYFR, hear questions, and get to know the people we hope will find it useful. We want to learn how they already share files, what gives them trouble, and whether our app makes things easier for them.
We’re self-funded, and the brochures, shirts, travel, and time all take planning. Giving our team the opportunity to spend time with the community matters to us.
